A Message from the board

Thank You, Sherri Marshall

By Tom Siemers, Dosher President and CEO

For 12 years, Sherri Marshall has been a Board of Trustee Member of Dosher Memorial Hospital, serving as Board Chair for seven of those years. To say she has been invaluable in the leadership of the Board and the hospital's growth is an understatement. She has literally devoted thousands of hours to Dosher.

During Sherri's tenure, Dosher has reached a number of milestones. Highlights include:

The replacement of our old acute care wing with a state-of-the-art 25-bed Patient Care Unit.
Dosher earned a prestigious 5-star patient experience designation from the federal government, being only one of 205 hospitals in the country to earn this top honor.
Multiple national awards for quality and service excellence.
Opened our Wound Center with hyperbaric oxygen chambers, earning the distinction of being a Center of Excellence for three years in a row.
Recruited multiple physicians in various specialties to include General Surgery, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Hospitalists, Anesthesia, and Emergency Medicine.
Designed, built, and recruited physicians and staff for Dosher Wellness Center.
Started Spine Surgery program.
Initiated employment of area physicians and Advanced Practice professionals by hospital.
Negotiated contracts with New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Novant Brunswick Medical Center to extend and improve cooperative agreements for the continuity of patient care.
Dosher Foundation's Capital Campaign raised $2 million.
Purchased Dosher Plaza and started Urgent Care Clinic.
Initiated Urgent Care Clinic on Bald Head Island.

The leadership team at the hospital works closely with the Dosher Board of Trustees to plan and execute new programs and services and to implement improvements with existing ones. We are fortunate to have Board members who are invested in improving the quality of life for the people in our community. Sherri's contributions will have a lasting impact for years to come, well after the end of her term. Thank you, Sherri, for your service to Dosher and to all whom we serve.
