Part of the legacy Carol Northup has built at Dosher is her development of teams who take ownership in their work and accountability for providing the highest level of care and a great patient experience. Northup, CNO, COO, and VP of Patient Care Services, not only leads with integrity but through example, and she has demonstrated to other Dosher staff members how to embrace their responsibilities with a leadership mindset.

Carol recently received Greater Wilmington Business Journal's Healthcare Heroes award in the category of Healthcare Executive. Healthcare Heroes is an annual celebration which brings together Wilmington area medical community and recognizes its exceptional members.
Carol is an outstanding mentor to staff as well as a hands on leader who worked side by side with employees during the two most recent hurricanes to hit this area, Florence in 2018 and Dorian in 2019, when Dosher made the decision to keep the Emergency Department and Patient Care Unit open during these events. Dosher's designation as a 5-star hospital for patient experience can also be attested to Carol's commitment to building teams that mirror her own work ethic and very high expectation of what healthcare ought to deliver to every patient, every time.
