Message from the Board

One Year with our Wide Bore MRI

What's the difference between the Dosher MRI Suite one year ago and today?

The answer would be over 1,700 imaging procedures.

In early 2019, the Dosher wide bore MRI went "live" on our main hospital campus, in a spacious new suite designed to provide optimal patient comfort. The acquisition of the new MRI took years in the making, starting back in 2015, when our CEO Tom Siemers and CFO Dan Porter, attended several public hearings across the state to seek approval for a Certificate of Need (CON) which would allow Dosher to proceed with purchase and installation. In 2016, the formal CON was granted from the NC Department of Health and Human Services, and preparations began to replace the leased unit that had formerly been in use at Dosher Medical Plaza. We have received extremely positive feedback on the MRI experience at Dosher. Patients like the openness of the unit and the large room size. There is also high praise for the technologists who oversee the procedure. Our staff are not only rigorously trained to ensure that we meet American College of Radiology Accreditation standards, but they are a top notch group when it comes to friendliness and putting an apprehensive patient at ease.

1,700 imaging procedures and 12 months later, we are ready to head into year two, with certainty that the wide bore MRI was the right choice for Dosher and for our patients.

Dr. Scott Starks, Dosher Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees
