Operation Medicine Cabinet Collects Over 8,000 Narcotic Pills

Local households discarded more than 8,000 expired or unwanted narcotic pills and nearly 1,280 milliliters of narcotic liquids at the hospital's 21st Operation Medicine Cabinet held in early October. Vehicles and pedestrians drove or walked by the front entrance to drop off the medications from 375 households.

We extend our thanks to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department and Southport Police Department, who were onsite to provide law enforcement and to transport the collected medications from the hospital grounds for safe incineration.

Our semi-annual drug drop off has become a much anticipated community event. The next collection date will be scheduled for the spring of 2020.
