Healthcare in 2020: When High Tech Meets High Touch
This year, the Coronavirus pandemic has shaken our healthcare system in countless and unexpected ways. For some organizations, the sheer volume of patients who needed COVID related treatment proved overwhelming. For others, the temporary halt of outpatient services and elective surgeries due to closures and increased safety protocols left them with devastating financial strain.
Dosher has not fallen into either of the aforementioned extremes, thanks to judicious leadership, committed staff, and innovative operational shifts that have allowed us to continue to care for patients in a safe and timely manner. One of the biggest treatment adjustments has been the implementation of telehealth within our primary care clinic network, which enables patients, when appropriate, to attend virtual appointments with providers from the safety of their own homes. Telemedicine isn't brand new to Dosher, as we have utilized the technology in our Emergency Department and Patient Care Unit since late 2018, with very positive outcomes. So far, the feedback from both patients and clinic network providers has been positive, and even though the office visits are virtual, patients receive the same level of high quality care that they are used to, and experience the personal touch which is the signature of the Dosher organization.
Telehealth is not going away any time soon. As a matter of fact, Dosher is looking to expand certain telehealth service lines both for outpatient services and to increase the treatments available on our patient care unit.
This type of technology makes us better at what we do and what we can provide for you, but a great patient experience has always been and will always be about people, whether they are in the same room, or on video screens, miles apart.
