Diagnostic imaging

Our imaging services have achieved American College of Radiology accreditation for Mammography, Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine, MRI, Ultrasound and Breast Ultrasound. This means our facility has voluntarily gone through a vigorous review process to ensure that we meet nationally accepted standards of care. Our personnel qualifications, equipment requirements quality assurance and quality control procedures have gone through a rigorous review process and have met specific qualifications.

We are excited to offer patients 3D mammography screening, otherwise known as Tomosynthesis. With 3D mammography, our radiologists view breast tissue layer by layer, helping to see inside the breast with great detail, especially in areas with overlapping tissue. This capability has proven to reduce the number of call-backs by 20 to 40 percent and detect more cancers, particularly in women with dense breast tissue.

The exam is approved for all women eligible for a screening mammogram and is given at the same time as a traditional 2D mammogram.

Advantages of 3D mammography

Greater chance for cancer detection
Reduction in false-positives
Reduction in call-backs (especially for women with dense breasts
Better visualization and confidence for physicians
Less anxiety for patients

Self-Requested Mammography

Dosher wants to make it as simple as possible for busy women like you to schedule a screening mammogram. We are now accepting self-requested mammography patients without first having to schedule a primary care physician visit to obtain a screening mammography order.

Certain self-requested criteria apply:

You must be at least 40 years old.
You must be established with one of our participating physicians (call us to verify). FDA guidelines require a report of the screening results are sent to a qualified medical professional, who will then review the results with the individual.
You must be asymptomatic. If you have symptoms or have a personal history of breast cancer that occurred less than five years ago, you must first schedule a primary care physician (PCP) visit to obtain a diagnostic mammogram order.

Call 910-457-3948 for an appointment or further inquiry.

Our other diagnostic imaging services are:

PACS: This digital imaging process allows our technologists to share your procedure results with physicians quickly and securely through the internet.

CT Scans: [Spiral & Total Body] A 128-Slice Seimans Go Top CT Scanner allows faster images with greater detail.

Digital Pulse Fluoroscopy allows the technologist to develop a high quality image with a much lower dose of radiation.

Echocardiography

Vascular Imaging

Ultrasonography

X-ray (Diagnostic Radiography)

Nuclear Medicine: Cardiac imaging (stress tests), bone scans, VQ scans.

Osteoporosis: With the DEXA method [Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry], the patient receives a low-dose, early-detection screen that enables a radiologist to detect bone loss at as little as one percent. DEXA measures both the hip and spine—areas most affected by osteoporosis (hip fractures and "kyphosis," curving of the spine). Support services for patients diagnosed with bone loss include Nutritional Counseling and Physical Therapy.

MRI: Our Siemens wide bore system is a non-invasive imaging test that aids in the diagnosis and treatment for medical conditions. This system combines a 70 cm opening (bore) and a shorter system length for optimal patient comfort. Magnetic resonance imaging uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to show detailed images of soft tissues and internal body structures.
